Titantic Belfast

Waiting for the hype to die down before I venture inside, but looking forward to experiencing it. The exterior of the buidling, up close, is captivating. There are three thousand alumanium triangular shapes (or "shards") - two thousand of which are unique, creating a random effect. It seemed to shimmer in the autumn sun.

Titanic Studios, Belfast - Home of Game of Thrones. I really loved the cladding on this building - the yellow, grey and white combination is not something you see very often, especially on such a large scale.

Northern Whig, Belfast

Construction began on this building in 1817 for the Northern Whig Club, a group formed in 1791 by the Society of United Irishmen, with members including Henry Joy McCracken and Theobald Wolfe Tone. In the early 20th century, the Northern Whig Newspaper occupied the premises, and it is now a bar/restaurant owned by Botanic Inns.

Incidentally, McCracken was tried and hanged at the Assembly Rooms, directly across from where this building was later built, in 1798.
